Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Tirupati
Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Tirupati is one of
the famous Hindu temple in South India. Temple is located
on the seventh peak of Venkatadri hill also known as Venkatachala or Venkata
Hill. The Tirumala Hill comprises seven peaks namely Seshadri, Neeladri,
Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrushabhadri, Narayanadri and Venkatadri. The main deity
of the lord Venkateswara is also worshiped here by various other names like Balaji,
Govinda and Srinivasa. The main sanctum (Garbha Gruha) is beneath a gilt
dome Ananda Nilaya Divya Vimanam also known as Vimana Gopuram.
Lord Venkateshwara is offered pooja at six times in a day
starting from Usha Kala (before sunrise), Pratha kala (after sunrise and finish before
noon), Madhyanika (at noon), Aparahana (when the sun starts to
descend), Sandhya Kala (around the sunset) and end at Ardharatri (when
the horizon is completely dark).
Every year 1000s of pilgrims visit this temple in the world
and devotees visiting the temple offer money and gold to Venkateshwara Hundi
(Donation Pot) as a token of their love towards lord. Temple offers world
famous Tirupati Laddu as prasadam to all devotees visiting the temple.
Tirumala hills are located in Tirupati in Chittoor district
of Andhra Pradesh. It is around 600 km (370 mi) from Hyderabad,
138 km (86 mi) from Chennai and 291 km (181 mi) from Bangalore.
